What a difference a week makes! Maeve is so much happier and comfortable. She is such a sweetie! I can hardly wait to get her home to her family. She is going to love her brother and sister and bring them lots of joy!
We went to the Vietnamese Museum of Ethnology today.
Maeve is of the Moung ethnic group, so we thought we could learn more about her culture there. Unfortunately, there was not as much there on the moungs as I would have liked. But it was still all very interesting learning about the the other major ethnic groups of Vietnam.
Last night we went to Finnegan's Pub for dinner. Yep, an Irish pub in Vietnam. We met several interesting people while there. One woman from Ireland was visiting her friend (part owner of the pub) and she wanted to know all about adopting from VN. She also lives in Arkansas some of the year. So she had this Irish brogue mixed with Southern drawl. LOL!
There were 2 waiters and a waitress working there who kept telling us how wonderful it was that we were adopting Maeve and how lucky she was to be going to America and that she would have so many opportunities. It was a little strange because really we feel that we are the lucky ones to have been blessed with her. But it also nice to know that Maeve WILL have so many opportunities to do or be whatever she wants. And we just take all that for granted.
Finally we met a very nice young Irish man, Brian. He is working as a 1st grade teacher here at the international school. He has been leaving here for several years. He gave his card and offered any help he could provide while we were here. I would liked to have met him 2 weeks ago...it would have been nice to have someone show us around or whatever. He said Pat could've played football with him and his friends last weekend....Heeheeheee....anyone who knows Pat, knows that is FUNNY. He mentioned that someday when he marries he would also like to adopt. hmmm....I told him about my sister Tricia...they are the same age, but making a love connection while in VN seems kind of impossible. I am always thinking of you, Trish. :)
Satuday we went to the Silk Village. This is where they make silkand there are lots of silk vendors. I got some great buys!
Below are pictures from past few days.

It's going to be hard to find informaiton about the Hmong in Vietnam. They fought next to the US soldiers against the North. The US soldiers revered them for their bravery and determination and many US Vietnam veterans are still trying to get their friends out of that country and bring them here. During the French occupation, they were called "MONTAGNARD" (Mountain People). They are strong, proud and fearless.
Here are some links for you. :-)
