Government Worker (GW): Neeeeext
Me: (big smile) Hi! How are you today?
GW: Fine, thank you. How many documents?
me: (smiling) 17 GW: Ok, we'll see you tomorrow.
Actually, she was pretty nice. But busy. So our documents will be ready for tomorrow. Pat is working in town these days, so I figured he could take the subway to pick them up. Parking in Government Center is BRUTAL. And I obviously look like a "country bumpkin", because some kind lady stopped and asked me if I needed directions when I was walking from the garage to the building. It must be the "what planet am I on" look on my face.
Anyhow, I called my SW this AM before I left to see if I could do a "walk in fingerprinting" while I was there today. I never heard back from her. (Have I mentioned that she often goes MIA?) Since I was confused enough while I was there and cold and not sure which of 2 buildings I would go to for fingerprinting and afraid that if I went when I wasn't suppose to, I would make them mad and they'd put us at the bottom of the pile.
Needless to say, when I got home there was a letter from CIS saying we could come in to get fingerprinted anywhere between 1/9 (yes, today!) and 1/20. So Pat and I will go back in on Thursday. The good news is: This puts us REALLY CLOSE to a referral!!!!!!!!!!
